The Internship Program at Newburyport High School has been designed to assist students in furthering their education and knowledge within the ‘real world’ work force. The main focus is to ensure that all students gain experience in the work force and become more informed about possible career choices.

Students participating in this program will earn credits towards their high school diploma. Participation in this program can be a valuable experience for the student and the employer. It requires a commitment from the student, the employer /internship, the school, and the parent/guardian with the School to Career Counselor at the Newburyport High School acting as the liaison between all those involved.

The Work Experience Program at Newburyport High School sets itself to combine both the further education of the student and the balance of a more hands on experience in the ‘real world’ work force. This programs main goal is to inform the students of possible career choices and to increase their experience within the work force.

Participating students will earn credits towards their high school diploma as well as income from their Work Experience position. This program can be a valuable experience for both the student and their employer, however, it makes the student responsible for a minimum 18 hour weekly work schedule. This program also requires a commitment from the parent/guardian, the school and the employer as well. Students in this program must maintain passing grades in their core classes to be involved with the Work Experience program and maintain their job during the entire semester.
